Bega Valley Business Awards ramping up

Power FM

There have been already over 500 nominations for businesses in the inaugural Bega Valley Business Awards. The awards are being run by the Bega Valley Business Forum which represents six Chambers of Commerce across the Bega Valley.

Any business or organisation operating in the Bega Valley can be nominated for an award with 14 categories available. There are also 4 categories available to nominate individuals in Outstanding Male Employee, Outstanding Female Employee, Outstanding Business Leader and Outstanding Young Business Leader. Nominations can be made on online via the Bega Valley Business website or in person at various locations across the shire.

Chair of the Bega Valley Business Forum, Nigel Ayling said, “ Nominations close on 12 May and then the judges will go to work assessing the finalists. There will be a number of factors that the judges will be looking for and it not just how many nominations a business gets. There will be 3 finalists announced for each category on 18 May and then tickets will go on sale from 25 May. We will have to restrict ticket sales to finalists to ensure every business gets a chance to attend.”

Event organized Amanda Watkin said, “ Everything is coming together for the big event which will be held on Saturday 17 June at Club Sapphire in Merimbula. We are expecting around 300 attendees from around 50 different business. It will be a Black Tie event with a sit down 3 course menu and entertainment so it will be a great chance for everyone to get dressed up and celebrate the success of our local businesses. Winners can even go on to nominate for the Business NSW state business awards.”

Local radio Station Power FM and Bega District News have jumped on board as Media Partners. Power FM will be providing a MC for the night and coverage of the event whilst BDN will be providing a photographer for the event and coverage across local papers.
